Tutorships

A Tutorship is a proceeding where the court appoints a guardian for an individual under the age of 18 or for an individual who is over the age of 18 but has a physical or mental incapacity. While the guardian is likely to be family, extended or otherwise, the court will make the determination as to whether or not the applying guardian will gain custody.

Annual Accountings are Required

Like an Interdiction, annual accountings are required to be filed by the guardian of the minor and court approval is required for virtually any transaction such as a sale or mortgage of minor’s property.
